Our Jewish Community
Kadima’s students come from a wide range of Jewish backgrounds and affiliations. As a Conservative Jewish day school, Kadima is committed to maintaining both authenticity and a “feeling of welcoming.”
Our policies on kashrut, dress, derech eretz (respect), and a variety of Jewish values and customs are meant to ensure that each student and family feels comfortable and welcome at communal events such as birthday parties and Bat/Bar Mitzvah celebrations. The atmosphere which is created will help students and families to bond as one exceptional community.
Kashrut
Kadima maintains a Kosher campus, thus, all food and snacks that students bring to school must be certified kosher. Snacks and lunches are dairy or pareve. Baked goods have a kosher endorsement (hechsher), or have been baked at a kosher bakery. We have a wonderful kosher kitchen where we cook lunch for the Kadima community every day.
Dress
Kadima’s dress codes aims to create a Jewish, academically-friendly atmosphere ,grant our students a sense of dignity, and strengthen their Jewish identity. Clothing worn at Kadima is required to reflect respect for the learning environment, and meet appropriate dress standards of good taste, cleanliness, and neatness.
Derech Eretz
At Kadima, pursuit of academic excellence is built upon the foundation of derech eretz, respectful interpersonal relations. The entire school community–students, educators, staff and parents–seeks to act in ways that reflect kindness, caring and concern; to use language that is respectful and sensitive; and to always treat each other with respect.
